If you have ever heard of Crocodile Dundee, then you might have heard of the Australian outback or Australian outback inspired clothing. Australian outback clothing could consist of an outback straw hat, leather-hide vest and matching pants. You might even have caught Mr. Crocodile Dundee himself sporting a straw outback hat along with the vest and matching pants as he went on one of his many exciting adventures in the popular films. Although, Crocodile Dundee isn’t the only guy to sport a straw outback hat, many other fellows wear these stylish brims too.
Outback hats are a combination of a straw cowboy hat and safari hat. They originate from Australia and were actually designed to protect one’s eyes from the sun. Outback hats were extremely popular in the late 1980′s after Crocodile Dundee was caught wearing them in his popular movie. These days while his memory still may stick with some of us who knew of him, a straw outback hat is mostly worn to protect ourselves from the sun’s harmful UV rays while we were outside. You might catch a gardener or even farmers wearing them when they spend long hours outdoors in open fields.
Some outback hats or clothing have been infused with a natural oil or outback oil that can help protect a hat wearer’s skin from weather conditions such as wind, sun, snow and rain. You might also find horse-back riders wearing these to protect them from changing weather conditions when out riding in the range. The outback oil skin is noted to have an impenetrable water barrier that is supposed to keep an individual dry even while being out in the heaviest of rains. Since these hats are made out of such weather-resistance materials, outback hats are also popular to frequent campers, hikers and even motorcyclists.
While some hats may be all about fashion, it is also important that they are comfortable and also support their purpose. Men may pick a hat based on how well it shades their eyes from the sun, and how well it fits their head. Nobody wants a straw outback hat that it too floppy or one that may blow away in the wind either. Some hats may even have a string to tie under the neck to secure the hat too. You can decide if you would like a straw outback hat with or without a tie. If you are shopping for a hat, be sure to measure the circumference of your head, to make sure it fits securely before making a final purchase.
After you have wore a straw outback hat for awhile, it might lose its shape. There are plenty of ways to reshape it again. This can include brushing the inside of the hat and removing any debris or dust, and then stuffing it with newspaper. You might even rub Authentic Dry Feel Reproofing Cream onto the hat with a cloth and then use a hairdryer to activate the cream. Once it is warm, you can reshape the hat with your fingers. Most outback hats may need reshaping just once per year.

You can probably even find them in local hat stores, thrift shops and other clothing specialty stores too. If they speak croc then surely they will know where to find the Australian outback inspired fashion-wear.
