Rare and Vintage T Shirts
There are some things that become social icons because they are a part of a social consciousness; becoming so popular that they endure the test of time. Sometime vintage and vintage style tee shirt design reflects this. Take for instance the TV show from decades back, I Love Lucy. This is a show that was extremely popular then and is still very popular; owing to this you may still come across the odd tshirt design that proclaims to love Lucy. Or you may have one that says Beam me up Scotty, There’s no intelligent life down here; a throwback to times when the Star Trek was such a hit TV show.
Sometimes a particular year could be one that is special for nostalgic reasons or because it was a year of some great sporting achievement. And so you have graphic tees highlighting a particular year say 1982 that was special for a particular reason. Vintage style tshirt designs are very popular when you want to declare yourself to be the fan of any particular band or a star from yesteryear. Say for instance a Jimmy Hendrix t shirt design or one with the classic Marilyn Monroe picture would make a really uniquely retro statement. The retro style of tee shirt design can also be created by using old fashioned illustrations, the kind of illustrations that became so popular during the 50s; a very easily recognizable style that was used widely in photographic and other advertisements.
Vintage computer t shirt designs can be very popular especially among those who pride themselves on being computer or tech geeks. While some tees will reflect old fashioned style of computers others will reflect a more modern preoccupation with all things technology driven.
Now some tshirt designs can have a cult following, making those t shirts both very rare and extremely expensive. If one is so inclined, one may end up paying a staggering $13,000 or more for the classic Run DMC Adidas T shirt. Connoisseurs and collectors can pay big money for that sort of thing.
You would think that a t shirt is something that is made from standard knit cotton material so it can’t get really expensive correct? Well you would be wrong! Sometimes limited edition tees can be incredibly expensive for reasons of being designed by a top designer or because they are made from precious and semi precious material. For instance Dom Rebel’s T shirts are all handmade and hand painted and are therefore so expensive as to be considered a piece of art. One line of these skull print T-shirt comes studded with 1080 handset Swarovski crystals and is detailed with specialty paints imported from France. Cost? Over a 1000 dollars! Then there is this Dolce and Gabbana tee with metallic shades of gold and a glam rock attitude for men; a snug fit tee only for the sartorially adventurous man; costs you nearly 400 dollars!
So you have people willing to pay not just for the designer element in t shirts, but also for the uniqueness of wearing a vintage or retro style of t shirt.

I’m a girl. 13 turning 14. I like wearing vintage tshirts with rock band names printed on them, skinny jeans and converse. Sometimes, I like wearing Bright coloured shirts and blacktorn up converse. My hair is naturally curly, but I straighten it most of the time, and only keep it curly sometimes. I like paramore, and lil Wayne and lady gaga. and old 80s Rock like nirvana, the rolling stones,etc. I also love playing sports as well as listening to my iPod. what do you thiink of me?

i think you sound pretty normal except for the fact that you only wear mascara. most girls your age pile on the bronzer and eyeliner if not more. also it sounds like you actually have a life; playing sports is really good for kids your age instead of walking laps around the mall with the other mall rats. You don’t sound like a super girly girl or a self pretentious prima donna.
